Division 1:

West Dragons 7-1 Johnston

A hat trick from Nathan Greene helped a rampant West Dragons get off to the perfect start to the Division 1 season as they hammered Johnston last night (Tuesday).

The home side were 2-0 up inside nine minutes as Scott Crawford fired a low shot into the bottom corner from 18 yards, before Nathan Greene got on the end of a Lee Palmer free kick and volleyed home with his left foot.

The visitors tried to respond as Liam Boswell had a close range volley blocked, but on 22 minutes it was 3-0 after Jordan Williams pounced on a mishit clearance by Johnston keeper Chris Smith and slotted home.

Nine minutes later the Dragons had a fourth when Johnston failed to clear another Palmer free kick, and Greene fired home from a tight angle.

The same player was denied a hat trick when he was penalised for a foul in the area moments later, but on the stroke of half time, Ashley Williams curled a left foot shot into the top corner.

The Dragons didn’t ease up after the break, and Greene did get his treble within moments of the re-start with a close range tap in - before Williams hammered in off the underside of the bar to make it 7-0.

The home side had further chances as player manager Matthew Price came off the bench to strike the post, and Williams was denied by keeper Smith when clean through.

The Tigers did have chances themselves and both Ryan Doyle and Nigel Davies had headers cleared off the line, while Doyle also saw his 20-yard drive pushed away by Dragons keeper Peter Blain.

But Doyle did get the consolation goal his endeavour deserved in injury time when he went through and placed a left foot shot into the bottom corner.

Round up:

At The Racecourse, Merlins Bridge came from behind to beat league champions Goodwick United 3-2.

Bridge led early on through Joe Leahy's neat finish, but Jordan Griffiths headed The Phoenix Boys level before the break. Adam Raymond then gave Goodwick the lead early in the second half from close range - but it was Will Haworth who then proved the matchwinner for The Wizards, scoring twice in the closing stages to ensure a great start to the season for Nathan Thomas' side.

At The Obs, Hakin beat Milford United 7-3, but only after The Robins led 2-0 early on through Josh Smart and Chris Thompson goals.

But Ryan Wilson and Ben Steele (2) goals turned the game around, before Scott Griffiths was red carded on the brink of half time for The Robins, and Steele sealed his hat trick from the penalty spot.

In the second half Craig Nicholson, Steve Mathias and Paul Thompson added further Hakin goals, while Thompson added a third for Milford.

Carew held on for a great 3-2 win at Tenby.

The Rooks led 3-0 at half time thanks to Alexy Bayley, Morgan Scourfield and Lloyd Hughes - and then withstood a fierce Tenby fightback as Sam Christopher and Jordan Richards set up a nervy finish.

Sean O'Neill gave Narberth a winning start over new boys Lamphey, his brace ensuring a 2-0 win.

But Monkton Swifts had a much better start to like back in the top flight, hammering Angle 5-0 away at Windmill Lane, thanks to goals from Ben Adams (2), James Russell, Tom Meiring, and Ben Nicholas from the penalty spot.

The night's other game saw Neyland play out a 3-3 home draw with Pennar Robins.

Justin Harding hit a hat trick for The Nomads - but that was cancelled out by another treble for Pennar's Jason Donohue.
