THE outcome of last week’s Pembroke Dock v Haverfordwest Harrison Allen Bowl tie is likely to be decided on Wednesday night, Telegraph Sport understands.

The tie, which The Town won by nine wickets, has been the subject of controversy after it emerged that Adeel Khan represented the visitors, despite having already played in league and cup action for Dafen CC in the South Wales Cricket Association League this season.

Earlier, this season, all cricket clubs in Pembrokeshire were sent a reminder of player registration rules, including the following: “Any player, who has played in a league outside of Pembrokeshire, in the current season, will NOT be eligible to play in any cup competition played under the auspices of the Pembroke County Cricket Club, during that season, even if their club registration has been accepted by the County Executive.”

Originally, it appeared the reigning Division One champions would escape any sanctions, as the above rule does not appear in this season’s official Pembroke County Cricket Club (PCCC) handbook.

However, the County Executive will now meet on Wednesday to discuss the issue, with an announcement on which team will progress to the semi-finals likely to be made on Thursday.

Under PCCC rules, any side found to have fielded an ineligible player in a cup competition must forfeit the tie and face a maximum fine more than £50.
