Cresselly (214 all out) drew with Lawrenny (143 for 9)

CRESSELLY came close to gaining the victory that would have put them top of the table on their own but were denied after Mike Shaw had given them hope from the penultimate ball of the match – only for Lawrenny last man Huw Griffiths to hold on for that one delivery.

Adam Chandler continued his excellent run of good form for the home team as he scored 66 and seemed on his way to another unbeaten innings when he momentarily relaxed and paid the price, having stroked six fours and a six.

Phil Williams and Alex Bailey both contributed 31 runs, with Bailey rasping a lovely straight six, with other cameos from Sam Harts (26) and Ryan Lewis (23) in a challenging final tally of 214 all out.

For Lawrenny, the wickets were shared amongst Rob Williams (2 for 37), Jamie Lewis (3 for 42), Brad McDermott-Jenkins (1-41), Harry Thomas (1 for 37) and Simon ‘Chief’ Cole (3 for 46).

Julian Arthur top-scored for Lawrenny against his old team mates, scoring 39 (three fours and three sixes), assisted by Rob Williams (two sixes in his 24) and Harry Thomas (19) but an excellent 5 for 32 haul in his 12 overs by Tom Arthur kept the pressure on, with Ryan Lewis (3 for 49) chipping in before Shaw’s late success raised their hopes by Lawrenny held on against their near neighbours.
