UKIP's Wales leader has applauded a Milford Haven energy firm for helping "power the UK economy".

Welsh Assembly group leader Neil Hamilton AM and his wife Christine visited the Dragon LNG terminal in Waterston last week.

The couple enjoyed a tour of the facility discovering more about the LNG process, and enjoyed views of Pembrokeshire from the top of one of the LNG tanks.

Mr Hamilton said: "Ten per cent of all the UK's liquefied natural gas can flow through Dragon LNG in Milford Haven.

"Christine and I greatly enjoyed our visit, especially walking out to the jetty where the tankers unload and climbing to the top of the vast storage tanks.

"As UKIP's Leader in the Senedd and energy spokesman, I commend Dragon on their superlative contribution to the local and national economy.

"This is a world-class company which helps British industry punch well above its weight.

"Pembrokeshire is an area of outstanding natural beauty but also a vital industrial resource.

"The county cannot and does not live entirely on tourism and the industrial and commercial base is essential for jobs and prosperity.

"Dragon LNG shows how the two can happily be married together.

"They are excellent neighbours and we were impressed by their very real and innovative contributions to the local area."

Becky Lumlock, Dragon’s managing director, said: "We were delighted, even with a very busy schedule, that Neil and Christine were able to visit us.

"It was an excellent opportunity to share with them Dragon’s number one priority - safety - through its daily operations, as well as the work Dragon does in the community including its award-winning youth training and development projects, the Dragon LNG Darwin Centre Experience and ‘This is Me’."
