A LACK of customers has forced the British Red Cross to close its Milford Haven branch.

The charity's Charles Street shop is due to close, with one job loss.

Sarah Smith, area retail manager, said: “As a charity reliant on public donations we have a responsibility to make the best use of our funds and unfortunately the Milford Haven shop is no longer cost-effective.

“We are disappointed to have to close the shop, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and volunteers for the hard work and commitment they have made to the Red Cross.

"Also, thank you to the local community for their support during the 15 years that the shop has been operating in Milford Haven.”

The charity said shop was no longer "financially viable" due to a reduction in customers

The date of closure has not yet been confirmed.

All volunteers who work at the shop have been offered other volunteering roles within the Red Cross.

The Red Cross continues to have a stores in Haverfordwest, Tenby, Narberth and Pembroke Dock.
