More than 300 walkers took part in the Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk last Sunday, May 15, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

As the sun started to rise over the horizon, walkers set off for the long 26 mile marathon, followed by half marathon and family walkers, who all completed the route in glorious sunshine and breath-taking scenery.

So far the walkers have raised nearly £12,000 in sponsorship with funds are still coming in. The money will be used by Macmillan to support people living with cancer in the local community and provide medical, practical, emotional and financial support to improve and change lives.

"I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of Macmillan to everyone who took part in the Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk 2016," said event organiser, Ben Silverstone.

"We had record numbers this year and we have received some fantastic feedback. The venue and route were perfect and we'd like to thank all the staff at Oriel Park Visitor's Centre for their superb hospitality on the day.

"Sincere thanks go to our main sponsors and the many local businesses that supported us and last but certainly not least, thank you to our amazing volunteers."

Registration is now open for 2017 to take part, visit www.pembrokeshiredawnwalk.org.uk.
