PUPILS from Milford have seen how their fundraising efforts have helped children living more than 4,000 miles away.

St Francis School in Milford Haven was recently visited by Jagnath Gurung, a Gurkha with close links with the school.

Jagnath was there to update pupils on how the money they helped raise has now helped rebuild a Nepalese school.

Last April, citizens from Nepal were left traumatised by the worst earthquake in 80 years, leaving homes and schools destroyed.

By holding a cake sale and non-uniform day the pupils and staff at St Francis pulled together to raise an impressive £500 to help support the collection fund.

The money raised by the school was added to money donated by the public, which amounted to a total of £1666.42

In January, Jagnath handed over the money to the authorities to assist in the rebuilding of Amar Jyoti Higher Secondary School in Nuwakot.

Jagnath said that the "support and understanding shown by the students and staff helped to make an effective change towards a great cause".
