MILFORD Haven Sea and Royal Marines Cadets are back on the road, after raising more than £10,000 to buy a new minibus.

After their last van went to 'scrap heaven' in September, the cadets have been working hard to find the cash for a replacement.

Support for the youth organisation, which provides opportunities for young people aged between 10 and 18, has come from a variety of local donors and fundraising events.

But the biggest boost came when Milford Town Council pledged £5,000 towards their cause.

At just fours years old and with a respectably low mileage, their new bus has also been specially sign-written, and will be a great advertisement for the unit as it travels up and down the motorway to events, competitions and activities.

Lieutenant (SCC) William Elliott RNR, Commanding Officer for Milford Haven, said: “Our minibus project has been met with great community support, by the many donations from businesses and organisations; as well as the in-kind donations at our Christmas bag-pack.

"The Town Council has been fantastic in enabling us to buy the minibus, which will save us money in the long run for the benefit of the young people that come through our doors.

"I can’t thank you all enough for the support and donations and I hope you enjoy seeing the minibus being used around the community.”
