STREET party organisers looking to celebrate the Queen's official birthday on Saturday, June 11, are being asked to contact the county council as soon as possible.

The council's traffic management department need to be informed of any celebrations that may involve the closure of a street or road.

Cabinet member for Transportation and Major Events, Cllr Rob Lewis, urged organisers to contact the council in plenty of time to allow for road closures to be arranged.

"We are happy to waive any fees associated with the publication of road closure notices," he said.

"However in some cases it may be necessary in terms of safety to implement a temporary traffic management system - such as signs and barriers - and these costs would have to be borne by the organisers."

The council is advising that events are planned for residential roads, such as cul-de-sacs, where the impact on traffic is minimal.

If entertainment is to be provided, or alcohol is to be sold, a temporary events notice (TEN) is also required, and the deadline for application is Thursday, May 26.

Anyone considering a street party should email details to traffic@pembrokeshire.gov.uk by Friday, May 20.

For a TEN email licensing@pembrokeshire.gov.uk.

To celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday, Milford Haven Town Council is also providing grants of £50 to groups and organisations holding street parties.
